THE REV. JERRY E. TEMPLE recently retired as Senior Pastor of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church in Greenville, SC, following 37 years of service to the South Carolina Methodist Conference. A South Carolina native, Rev. Temple is originally from Saluda and received his B.A. degree in religion from the University of South Carolina in 1976 and then earned a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1979. He accepted his first appointment in the Methodist Church in Cheraw, South Carolina where he served three churches. He continued his ministry by serving congregations mostly throughout Columbia and Greenville, including 11 years at Mauldin United Methodist and 9 years at Buncombe Street.
