Visiting Clergy
Since arriving to the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina in 1999, Augusta has served as canon to the dean of Cathedral of All Souls, rector of St. Thomas in Burnsville, adjunct clergy at Trinity in Asheville, assistant rector at St. James in Black Mountain, and as rector at Transfiguration in Saluda. Canon Augusta is Bishop José’s Canon to the Ordinary and Chief of Staff. She has served on Standing Committee, Executive Council, Camp Henry Board and Mission and Ministry Conference planning team. Canon Augusta has also represented the diocese as Deputy to General Convention (2003, 2006) and was appointed as a member of the Standing Commission on the State of the Church. Beyond the diocese, Canon Augusta was the President of The Transition Ministry Conference (2018-2022), a gathering of transition officers from Province I, II, III, North Carolina and parts of Province 5. She is a faculty member for CREDO, an Episcopal vocational renewal conference for clergy in the Church. Augusta was ordained in 1999 and holds a Masters in Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts from Hobart & William Smith Colleges.
Canon Augusta lives in Asheville with her husband, Steve, and four children, two Golden Retrievers and one cat.
