Throughout his life, Stephen D. Mitchell was devoted to several organizations in which he served selflessly; one of those was Faith Memorial Chapel in which he dedicated 58 years of his life as a trustee. He took on many responsibilities, including recruiting the clergy for our Sunday services and keeping the Chapel’s books. Upon his death in 2011, Steve designated Faith Chapel as one of the beneficiaries of his estate and his generosity has made possible the new addition that will provide space for Sunday school, social gatherings, the display of many of our historical items, and the convenience of an additional restroom.
The groundbreaking was held on August 14, 2016 and construction was completed in time for our 2017 opening. We are grateful to Steve Mitchell and the Mitchell family for their generosity that will make Faith Memorial Chapel even more vital as a place of worship for the Cedar Mountain community and surrounding areas.
